Destination Summary

Den Haag

The Zandmotor is a lagune that formed on the beach between DenHaag and Ter Heijde due to an artificial sandbank that was deposited to protect the shoreline. The Laguna has a connection to the North Sea making it grow and shrink with the tides. It has fairly shallow and flat water making for an ideal combination of constant wind on south-west until North-east wind (over west).
On sunny days the Laguna can be crowded with lessons making the adjoining long shoreline the ideal alternative. When the wind really pumps the Laguna is usually the playground of advanced big air and freestyle kiters.

There are a couple of very nice beach clubs nearby with a laid back surf atmosphere. The beach just north of the Zandmotor is also pretty wide with low water puddles making it a nice playground for the family and kids too.
