Its a non populated quite island. It is located at the north Eagean sea far from the main land. You can reach to island with a 80 min ferry ride from Eceabat.
Kiting season is summer for the island 25 to 35 knots average wind in July to September.. Perfect to come with a van and stay for couple months. Onshore spot is a 1 km Long Beach, mostly populated with Bulgarian, Romanian and Turkish kiters who stays in tents and vans during summer time. off-shore is a deserted beach so you can take the chance to have a quiet vocation. Best thing about island is that you can ride at flat and choppy water. on-shore for rigging full freestyle and choppy water for trying your big air jumps.
on-shore has no facility for camping.
off-shore has only one school at the entrance of the beach with good conditioned bathroom and tent area. you can get also electricity for your van.
There is 1 facility with boat in off-shore spot. The facility is far(800m) from the kite spot in off-shore. Rescue can take time so ride on your own risk. Make sure to talk to school and let them know you will be riding at the spot.
At On-shore be careful to ride away from beach if you don't want to smash your kite to a van.
The weather and water is cold in winter, gets crazy wind up to 40-50 knots storms. its possible to ride but the kiting schools can be closed. And of course ferry rides also gets cancelled during the storms make sure you come a day or two before the storm.
There is not much social activities comparing to a summer vocation place but perfect to concentrate on the kite sport that you love, start riding early in the morning at 8 am and wind can decrease after noon at 4-5 pm..
